Margaret's eldest (as far as I know) daughter, Mary Ann, had the middle name Maharg, so perhaps that was Margaret's middle name? Seems to be more commonly spelt Meharg in County Down.

Maharg is a Scottish surname so yes it could be a middle name if mother's maiden name.

Did they originate from Scotland? County Down was and still is predominantly Protestant and is known as Ulster Scots.
