Familysearch has a record for Fanny Vince (age 5) in Trowbridge, Wilts in the 1861 census. But it only shows the single transcribed record, not the 'original'.

Ancestry.com won't bring up the record no mater how I search.

So I've no idea where Fanny fits in my tree!

In 1891 she's working alongside my known person, Ellen Maria Vince (also from Trowbridge), in London so I asume there's some familial connection.

What's my next step?

FamilySearch gets its census info from Findmypast, not ancestry, so the transcription on ancestry is probably different.

Free search on FMP brings up the following people called Vince who are with a Fanny Vince: Eli 38, Mary 38, Ellen 10, Agnes 8.

Ah yes, they're listed as Dence on ancestry:

Eli Vince Head Mar 38 Tailor Wilts Trowbridge
Mary Do Wife Do 38 Do Do
Ellen Do Daur 10 Scholar Do Do
Agnes Do Do 8 Do Do Do
Fanny Do Do 5 Do Do Do

I'll put in a correction for the surname.

Eli is a tailor & Fanny his youngest daughter. They appear to be in Trowbridge itself. Ref: RG09 piece 1295 folio 120 page 13

Ooh, ta! Right were I wanted her to be!

By 1911, she's gone back home to Trowbridge to keep house for her younger brother, Arthur, who must have been the baby of the family.

Arthur was the baby and never seems to have married (of course, neither did Fanny or Ellen) nor did the other sibling (Mary Agnes) appear to have offspring. Dead end branch, there. Fortunately it was their father's sister who became my GGrandmother!
