Without going in to a *very* long explanation, I think I may have found someone who might help connect some of my ancestors.

In 1851, she is at piece 1515 folio 373 page 14 - Hannah Maloy a 59 year old widow born Ireland and a musical string maker, living in St Sepulchre, City of London.

I couldn't find a good match in 1841 until I stumbled across Hannah Male in Whitechapel - piece 717 folio 32 page 11. This Hannah is down as aged 40 and born Ireland and is with a Thomas Male.

The Catherine Adams in the same household is (I'm fairly sure) the same girl who's living a few doors down from the Hannah Maloy of 1851. Could these Hannahs be the same?

I guess so. I suppose you'd need to see if you can find Hannah Male after 1841 or Hannah Maloy in 1841 to see if they are two separate people.

I think the surname in 1841 might be Neale rather than Male. If you look at what would be the last loop of the M, it is smaller than the rest of the letter and looks similar to some of the e's on the page, while the other M's on the page don't match it.

Kiterunner, that did occur to me but I'll admit I ignored it cos it didn't help me...but if they are Neale, I can't find them elsewhere.

Thanks Nell, I have done that and couldn't find any other alternatives
