I thought this was an interesting example for those of us who find our ancestors didn't always live as we expect them to have done - from Islington Settlement papers, Frances Annis top of right hand page

First marriage is listed on FreeBMD as Phillip Clack / Frances Elizabeth Haynes (Oct-Dec 1850) and the second one as James Anniss / Elizabeth Haynes (Oct-Dec 1867) , if anybody else is having trouble finding them, like I was!

An interesting glimpse for those who have an idea that the Victorians were incredibly morally upright and believed marriage was for keeps.
