I spent hours on this last night, so before i go stir crazy again, i`m asking for your opinion please.

Oh`s 4xgg was Ann Grice bsptised 1 May 1759 St Modwen`s Burton on Trent Staffordshire to Thomas Grice and Mary,

I found a submitted marriage between Thomas Grice and Mary Foster 30 Sept 1736 at Burton on Trent.

Children baptisms at Burton on Trent, from the FS pilot site

Eliz. 14 June 1738
James 22 Aug 1739
Thomas 22 Feb 1741
Mary 19 Feb 1745
Sarah 3 Feb 1747
Hannah 10 Jan 1749 buried 25 Jan 1749
Hannah 9 Oct 1750
Joseph 24 Aug 1751 buried 13 Sept 1752 or Sept 1751
Charles 7 Nov 1752

Ann 1 May 1759...oh`s 4xgg
Hannah 24 Feb 1761
Thomas 27 Mar 1769

I can`t find another marriage for Thomas Grice and Mary between 1752 and 1759, so could the bottom 3 children belong to Thomas and Mary who married in 1736.

Any help appreciated.

Are all those children from a Thomas AND Mary......or just Thomas??

I suppose it is possible. If Mary was say, 16 when she married, she'd be 49 when the youngest was born...possible. Maybe not likely.

Your Ann wouldn't be the daughter of Thomas bap 1741????

They all said Thomas and Mary on them Libby, i thought of Thomas 1741 being the father, but wondered if he was too young, will have to see if i can find a marrriage for him.

Thanks for looking

Silly me, i have already looked and couldn`t find one for a Thomas Grice.

Sylvia....Thomas 1741 may have been a couple of years old when baptised....even so, he'd have been 18.

There is a tree on Ancestry for Ann with the parents marrying in 1736, but they have Ann 1759 as the only child and Mary born 1710. That's not going to work with those later kids...

The new family search site is bringing up a marriage in 1768 for Thomas Grice and Mary Watson, St Modwens Burton on Trent - so maybe it is the son, or the father remarrying to a younger Mary. Don't know how you will tell, unless their is a note in the register (ie widower)

Just looked at your first post - 1768 is too late, it needs to be 1759 !! back to the search then..

The new familysearch site is : https://www.familysearch.org/
make sure you burton on trent staffordshire as the place.

So he would Libby, thats a possibilty then,

There is a Thomas and Mary marriage at Walsall in 1760, but i have found children for them, so ruled them out.

No its not, this submitted marriage has Thomas born 1711, i thought not impossible if his wife was a lot younger.

Hi Sylvia

The more I look the less it helps !

Maybe the last Thomas b1769 belongs to the Thomas Grice and Mary Watson.

It seems odd to have Ann and Hannah, as mostly the names were interchangable, but then some of mine used Eliza and Elizabeth, so may be they did have three Hannahs and one Ann !!

The only Mary Foster I could see in St Modwens was born in 1700, but was a twin and both died in 1700. GRRRRR (and the twin was Hannah).

Do you want me to add it to the list to check on at the library? There may be occupations listed in the register that help with identification.

Thanks Di, looking at it again i would say that last one belongs with the Thomas that marrried in 1768. Looks like he was the only child too.

I too have Eliza and Elizabeth in one family and 3 Elizabeths in another, the first 2 died.
