The Ward family c1915
Father: John Ward b c1876
Mother: Annie b c1876
Son: Ernest b1905 Nelson, Lancashire
Daughter: Edith (Edie) b 11 Sep 1908, d 1999 Burnley
Sadly, I think I'm the only person with an interest in this photo, Edie married my great uncle Robert Kershaw and they were unable to have children (but was a wonderful great aunt to me & came to my wedding). Ernest had one son, Michael, but he died without children, so there are no blood relations that I know of.
Here is my grandfather, Walter Henry Clark, and his friends fighting the enemy during WW1! My grandfather, is on the right hand end of the back row, strumming his tennis racket.

It is the Oliver Whitby Bluecoat School in Chichester, though we don't know why it's in our family (from West Wittering about 7 miles away), nobody recognises anyone in the picture.
It's a postcard style photo with a small rubber stamped label reading "The Westgate Studio, 40 West Street Chichester" on the back. I don' know the date, but would guess between 1910 and 1920.
This is the Art Studio at Sidcot School, Somerset during WW1. The master standing on the right is my great-grandfather, Henry Robert Clark.

This one is of one of the many Bass Brewery trips to either Scarborough or Blackpool I would imagine. Bass paid for their employees for a day trip to the seaside every year. Sometimes almost 20 carriages would leave Burton Station.
I bet there was a few crates of beer aboard. :D
I have no idea if any family members are amongst them.

Daniel Charles (Charlie) Philpott was a son-in-law of my great-grandfather, Edwin Flower Mitchell. Charlie and Edwin were both licencees of The Anchor Inn (323 Gloucester Road, Bristol) at various times from the late 1890s onwards - Charlie was the licencee for 40 years! My grandparents, Florence Elizabeth Mitchell and George Charles Burchill met there in 1905 when she was working there as a barmaid and he was a customer!

That's me standing up. Ben.
After about 20 years++ of wondering we are still stuck with who Ben is! We know who Lily and Bert are, but whilst "mother" is obviously Ben's mother she isnt their mother too.
I don't know what that dress uniform is either.
Oh and I forgot, who else thinks the two Ben's don't look like the same person, yet the name and handwriting seem the same!

My grandfathers brother William Henry Newey 1891-1950.
Royal Navy 1909-1921
He had a habit of going AWOL. The story was the family were told he was lost at sea as his ship had sunk. He turned up at my grandparents house and nearly gave my grandmother a heart attack, she thought he was dead. He'd missed the ship sailing and so lived.

He's Robert Henry Alexander Cotton, 1893-1960, OH's first cousin twice removed (in later years he was the spitting image of OH!). This photo was taken in June/July 1911 when he was first posted aboard HMS Renown.
EDIT: OH points out the photo wasn't unnamed - it said "Bob" on the back!! lol
Another of OH's.....this one has a name - just Leonard! lol He looks very innocent.

This is my mother's maternal grandfather, Edwin Maynard, 1837-1921. The photo was taken about the same time as the one of Henry, above.
Edwin worked in his father's grocer's shop at Whittlesford in Cambridgeshire until the mid-1870s. After this he moved to London for a while before settling in Twickenham where he became the librarian at the newly formed public library. My gran (his daughter) always described him as the "Chief Librarian", but he was actually the only one!!
This is my great grandfather William Richard Collis 1861-1922
He is the man in the hat standing. Beside him is his wife Laura Sophia (nee Martin).
The caption says they are in Kruegersdorf South Africa. Two of the seated young people are their children. I don't know when it was taken or why they were in South Africa, as they lived in Sydney Australia.

Priscilla Isabella Wallace Williamson (1864-1931), my great-great grandmother.
Priscilla had two illegitimate children - her eldest being my great grandmother - and then went on to marry three times becoming, in turn, Priscilla Paton, Priscilla Falconer and Priscilla Keddie. She once worked in coal mining as a pit head lassie. I'm curious about the sash she is wearing in the photograph.
I'm not sure when the photo was taken.
