The witnesses at the son's marriage were George Saberton and Mary Ann Stanbury.

In 1827 a George Saberton married a Mary Ann Burnham at St George in the East.

Although it looks as though they called the banns twice before once in 1825 at St Dunstans Stepney and again in 1828 at St Saviour Southwark.

There is a baptism for a Richard Stanbury to a Richard and Ann in 1826 at St Dunstans

Thanks, Sue - the Saberton /Burnham / Stanbury marriages are interesting as George Saberton lived next door to Richard junior's widowed mother-in-law-to-be in 1851 (goodness that's complicated - took me a while to work it out!) ...looks like he was a connection of some sort not just a neighbour.

I'll follow that up - anything that gives me a lead on the Stanburys is welcome. They've been very elusive!

Sue hit the nail on head with the Stanbury / Saberton connection (thanks Sue!). Once I started looking there are loads of connections between the 2 families which have allowed me to get a lot further.
