I know that's probably the spelling on the 1841 census but the name of the place is The Callis in Ashby.

Loads of Dave's ancestors were from there and it still exists.

I think the 1851 census address is Arkinstall Street, West Brom (from the very scribbly Description of Emumeration District page).

Thanks Marg - yes you are right, the proper spelling is The Callis. I too have family from there later in the 19th century.
