The witnesses at Elizabeth and Charles's marriage are Charlotte Parker, Thomas Taylor Sayer and John Raper (the last being a witness at every marriage on the page so I don't think he would be a relative).

Thank you I think I had forgotten that but I probably tried to trace Charlotte's marriage and baptism when I found Charles' and Elizabeth's marriage and didn't get anywhere at the time but perhaps now the LDS has more Norfolk and Suffolk stuff I'll find something.

Okay I found a Charlotte Parker born Lakenheath, Suffolk, England to a John Parker and a Mary Wiseman

http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1199743328340#givenName=charl otte&birthPlaceId=1927855&birthYear=1810&searchType=close&birthPlaceLoc1=Suffolk%2C%20England%2C%20United%20 Kingdom&surname=parker&p=recordResults

Elizabeth named her first son Charles Wiseman Sayer!

http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1199743328340#givenName=charl es&surname=sayer&birthYear=1827&birthPlaceLoc1=Carbrooke%2C%20Norfolkshire%2C%20En gland%2C%20United%20Kingdom&searchType=close&birthPlaceId=3489526&p=recordResults

Always wondered where the Wiseman bit came from!

I expect it's likely that Charlotte is Elizabeth's sister what do you think?

Do you think that's what the enumerator tried to write here bearing in mind Elizabeth may have had an accent:-

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1861&h=5572506&ti=5538&indiv=try&gss=pt&ssrc=pt_t1310698_p-1090364998_kpidz0q3d-1090364998z0q26pgz0q3d32768z0q26pgPLz0q3dpid

I was always doubtful about John Parker and Elizabeth Sammons having said that I haven't found a baptism for Elizabeth with John and Mary.

Thomas Taylor Sayer although you'd think it easy to find him with a name like that its not. There are a few of them but I think this one is Edward son possibly Edward was Charles' brother.

EDITED TO SAY BECAUSE I KNOW PEOPLE WILL BE LOOKING AT THIS THREAD AGAIN.

I have managed to work out all the Sayers at Charles' level all his complicated siblings and their offspring down a few generations and also Charles' parents and also what happened to most of his siblings, a couple went the USA his oldest nephew went to Australia the rest seemed to have come to Shoreditch, London and the rest stayed in Norfolk.

The USA lot made an impact in New York State over the Countys and the one who went to Australia seemed to have made an impact in Tasmania. But it was the New World and plenty of room for expansion and re-inventing yourself.

Thomas Taylor Sayer (emigrated to USA in early 1830s with his brother William and with both families although they both left some of their older children behind) Thomas Taylor, William and Edward were Charles' older brothers. This must be the Thomas Taylor Sayer on Charles' marriage as witness.

I was being daft that Thomas Taylor wasn't christened until 1814 so he would have only been about 13 years old in 1827!!! :d EDITED this is a nephew of Charles Sayer Elizabeth's husband he is the son of Edward Sayer.

Must be one of the other's or a Thomas Taylor Sayer that isn't recorded (edited see above)

I found on Freereg Elizabeth, Charlotte, Ann all born to John Parker and Mary Wiseman in Lakenheath, Suffolk - what does it mean when there is a note and it says 'His Wife Spinster'

http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/SearchResults.pl?RecordType=Baptisms&RecordID=3920237

Does it mean John and Mary weren't married.

No, it means she was a spinster when she married him.

Well for all I know perhaps they are right but I can't see how they get to that at the moment.

It's looking more likely that John Parker and Mary Wiseman are Elizabeth's parents

The witnesses at Elizabeth and Charles's marriage are Charlotte Parker, Thomas Taylor Sayer and John Raper (the last being a witness at every marriage on the page so I don't think he would be a relative).

So I now know that Charlotte was Elizabeth's sister, Thomas Taylor Sayer was Charles' older brother (but we have another one who is a nephew named TTS too Edward's son) but John Raper is actually a relative he is a brother to Elizabeth Raper who married William Sayer Charles' older brother. :)

It was a small place...
