I'm still working on my OH's mothers family lines.

I have found several births in Lincoln on the IGI for DODSWORTH children

These have father Robert Richardson DODSWORTH and mother Mary

Agatha Frow DODSWORTH baptised 23 Feb 1816 Trusthorpe, Lincoln Batch C03305-1 Source Film Number 508064

Harriot DODSWORTH baptised 1817 Skidbrooke Cum Saltfleet Haven, Lincoln Batch C05483-1 Source Film Number 508037

Wm DODSWORTH baptised 07 May 1819 Skidbrooke Cum Saltfleet Haven, Lincoln Batch C05483-1 Source Film Number 508037

Marian DODSWORTH baptised October 1824 Grimsby, Lincoln Batch C01135-2 Source Film Number 432515

Then there are several children born to a Robert DODSWORTH and Mary

Samuel DODSWORTH baptised 28 December 1822 Grimsby, Lincoln Batch C01135-2 Source Film Number 432515 (same numbers as Marion above)

Henrietta DODSWORTH baptised 30 July 1826 Grimsby, Lincoln Batch C01135-2 Source Film Number 432515
Ann Maria DODSWORTH baptised 11 September 1828 Grimsby, Lincoln Batch C01135-2 Source Film Number 432515

On the1841
There is a Richardson Dodsworth in York Castle Debtors Prison age given as 50 not from County.
HO 107 / 1355/16

There is a Mary DODSWORTH living in Mexborough Yorkshire with whom I assume are her children,
HO 107 / 1332/5

Gatha age 25 a Wheelwright
William age 22 unable to read occupation
Samuel age 20 no occupation added but if this is OH’s ancestor he was a Joiner/Carpenter on other census
Mary age 18
Henrietta age 15
The whole page looks as if a Y for born county has been written, but just a scribble really.

In 1851 there’s a Richardson 66 and Mary 65 DOBSWORTH living in Mexborough with a granddaughter Harriet Eastwood (transcribed Castwood). Richardson’s occupation is Wheelwright and Joiner
Class: HO107; Piece: 2346; Folio: 15; Page: 23; GSU roll: 87604-87605.

A Mary Ann ( Marian maybe) married a George Eastwood in 1842 Father Richardson DODSWORTH

I’ve been unable to find another Robert and Mary that could match this family on the census so, could Robert Richardson / Richardson / Robert be one and the same man or am I clutching at straws?

I'd value all your opinions on this. Thanks.

Looks likely to me. If you can get to look at the actual parish register entries for the baptisms, it should have father's occupation which might help.

Thanks Kite, I'll have to go to Lincoln some time, goodness knows when though. Not somewhere I've ever been before so it will be a new experience.

Looks like OH's 2X g grandfather Samuel Dodsworth was married 3 times and had at least 18 children, so plenty for me to look up in Yorkshire too.

It's only taken me over 15 years to get him indoors interested in family history but then it's only this month I've really bothered with his family, only started on it to take a break from my Somerset families.
. He'd tackling a huge basket of ironing for me while I look at his family tree :d
