The marriage states that Charlotte was a minor and got married with consent of friends, parents being deceased. Witnesses Thos Hoskins and Elizabeth Osborn.

Hmmm, an Elizabeth Hines married a William Osborn 29 Jan 1793 at St Matthew, Bethnal Green, spinster of the parish, witnesses John White and James Nelson, both "serial witnesses". Elizabeth's signature doesn't look exactly like Elizabeth Osborn's on Charlotte's marriage cert, though. But worth looking into if you haven't already.

Oh, and if I'm looking at the right family in 1841, Charlotte looks like an "N" rather than a "Y" for born in county, don't you think?

Her maiden name is Hayns on one of the children's baptisms (Sarah's) if that's any help.

Thanks Kate. I havethe image of Charlotte's marriage but had never looked at the witnesses. Did you find the marriage for Elizabeth on the LMA records? I don't have a sub at the moment so couldn't see it.
I checked my copy of the 1841, which isn't very clear but I think you may well be right with her being not of county. I wonder if Bethnal Green is in Surrey or not.

Yes, I found Elizabeth's marriage in the LMA records.

No, Bethnal Green would be Middlesex.

Perhaps the family came from that area originally then

Lynn, a surprising number of my lot swapped from Bethnal Green to the Southwark area and back again over the years.

They never seemed to venture into any other part of London - presumably the two areas attracted a similar demographic.

Possibly. I have a few families in the Lambeth /Battersea area
