View Full Version : Who did Bridget marry?

In 1861, Bridget Ashton is 20, (born 1840) single and living with her widowed father and possibly her 4 year old daughter Bridget.

Bridget may have married Richard Lucas later in 1861, or Robert Collison in 1882 (this may be the junior Bridget's marriage, though!).

Please could someone look for Bridget in 1871 and see if she has married. All this took place in Chorley, Lancs.

Thanks!

Thanks Elizabeth, sorry I didn't make myself clearer, I wanted to confirm that it was "my" Bridget Ashton marrying and not someone else's Bridget, lol. If the age is correct in 1871 for Mrs Bridget Lucas, then I expect it his her.

EDIT - oh, for goodness sake! I've just read her father's name in your post, thankyou Elizabeth, I can't help being stupid you know.

OC, no more idiotic than me - at first I posted completely the wrong marriage and had to delete it!!

Ooooh, thankyou Elizabeth...yet another tiny crumb of circumstantial evidence for my theory.

Bridget's father Robert was a very naughty man and had loads of illegitimate children. A Bastardy Order exists in his name for the support of my 2 x GGF, James Holden.

James Holden does not exist until 1861 census. His occupation is "engine driver in factory mill", which is also the occupation of his half-sister Bridget's husband. A tiny straw I know, but give me enough straws and I'll build you a haystack, lol. (There are lots of other little straws too)

Glad to help, OC.

At first I thought you were suggesting that Richard Lucas and James Holden were one and the same person!!:D:d:d
