"....Emma Garrod King, daughter of one of the executors"

I had it that Emma's mother had died (her father remarried in 1854). Her father is not the executor (it's his will) so are they referring to the second wife as Emma's mother do you think?

lol - yes I know who she is - I just don't know who the executor is that they are referring to.

They say that Emma G is an executor's daughter. It's her father's will.
Her mother disappeared from any records that I can find, in 1848 and her father remarried in 1854 to Emma A Allcock.

I'm guessing that they mean that Emma G is the executor's step-daughter. (The executor being Joseph's 2nd wife, Emma A.

No, it says "the Daughter one of the Executors" and if punctuated properly, there would be a comma after Daughter! It just means she was Joseph King's daughter and she was one of his Executors.

I found his first wife's death, she's listed as Clementia King. Have posted it on this thread:

I've just checked the certs I have that mention him and all the census records and even the submitted records on the IGI and.... um.... I don't know.

It was probably from a contact at the beginning of my research... or a misreading of Joseph...

I think the L needs to disappear :)

I just received his marriage certs and death cert.

They helped me to be more sure that I'm following the right person.

It niggled me that he was variously a tanner/leather worker/accountant/grocer/schoolteacher...

His dad was a teacher, Joseph became a teacher.
His first wife's father was a teacher too.

His second wife's father was a saddler... (leather industry)

I'm guessing that he was always a teacher but that it didn't pay much so he had a more lucrative job too???

Does anyone know about teachers' salaries at the end of the 19th
century??
