I have a Harry Meadon (Bricklayer, lodger) born abt 1883 in England, working in Construction. According to the 1920 US Federal Census he was living at Cuyahoga, Cleveland Ward 22, District 427; a Harry Meadan is listed on the Ohio death records with the date which you have recorded: 26 Jan 1922 in Cuyahoga. Hope this helps :)

Many thanks for that info :) Bricklayer would tie up with other members of the extended family, most were builders and painters.

I think this is one for my next Kew trip - when I can access Ancestry worldwide, Findmypast and also look for a passport application.

Many thanks for your help.

It sounds as if you have a family very similar to mine, especially in terms of trades. I went to Kew last Tuesday (not a good idea, the place had been closed for 2 days, and everyone in the world seemed to be there!); it is good to be able to access all that data in one place, however.

Best wishes

Anne, have saved a copy if you want it. If you PM your e-mail address I can send it on to you. It doesn't tell any more than you know really, but gives a state file number, not sure if you can get a death certificate from that.
