Alexander Morrison

I am having trouble finding him in the census other than in 1881

Source Citation: Parish: Edinburgh St George; ED: 105; Page: 8; Line: 2; Roll cssct1881_286; Year: 1881.

I know this is the correct one on this census as his daugher Jane (Jeanie) married my Great Grandfather Robert Brown in 1881 and the certificate says her parents were Alexander Morrison (blacksmith) and Isabella (Harrison) and they lived at 108 Rose Street Edinburgh.

There also must be other children as they have a grand daughter Isabella Hearn living with them....and I have no idea who her parents are until I can find the family in other census years.

That was quick.....how do I put that information into the search thingie on ancestry.

Erm, no idea - as you had posted it that way I thought that was what you needed! lol

There's a box on the advanced search option for the page number, but I can't see where to put the piece number......I don't have any Scottish ancestors, so I'm not used to using the Scots stuff on Ancestry!


Ruthie, do you know when Alex or Isabella died?

The only information I have on them came from the marriage certificate.

I am computer challenged...I posted it that way as it was the only way I knew how....I jsut copied and pasted the information on the bottom of the 1881 census page.

He doesn't have a year of birth recorded :(
