How would I find a death that happened after 2005?

Findmypast has the 2006 deaths, otherwise you have to go to Birmingham Central Library, Bridgend Reference and Information Library, The British Library, City of Westminster Archives Centre, London Metropolitan Archives, Greater Manchester County Record Office or Plymouth Central Library.

Edit - oh, unless you're looking in a county / area that has its own BMD website with recent deaths on it.

Thank you very much, Kite :). I think the death would have been in Letchworth, but I don't know exactly which year. So I'll try FMP first, and work from there.

Joan, I emailed the office I believe my Fathers death in March was registered at. They told me the info I needed to supply to apply for it.

I had had a look at Hertforshire register office website on the offchance that they offered some sort of research facility - they don't, but in any event, the cost of copy certificates is £15 !
