I've just noticed this in the news on findmypast:

01 October 2010
Five new military record collections just launched: over 480,000 new records
We have just published five fantastic new military record collections on findmypast.co.uk which comprise 482,879 records.

See the table below for details of each set of records:

Collection Number of
records
WWII Prisoners of War 104,838

Distinguished Conduct Medal Citations 24,928

Ireland's Memorial Records of the Great War 49,602

Register of the Second Anglo-Boer War 259,581

WWI Naval Casualties 43,930

More info at this link: findmypast news (http://www.findmypast.co.uk/media/news/news-item.jsp?doc=Fivemilitarycollections.html)

I think some of these databases may have been available elsewhere already but some look new.

Wonder what the difference is in the Irish Memorial Records than in the list I found my ancestor on? Ah well, shame I don't have a subscription, but can't afford that and Ancestry!

Wendy it's the same as what Ancestry have.

I've found my great grandfather on FMP & Ancestry, the same scanned image.

Thanks JayG, shan't need to get any credits then.
