Does anyone know how I would go about researching my husband's Greek ancestors? Although my husband is of Greek descent, he was brought up in Brazil (his father having emigrated in the 50's) and does not read Greek.

His Greek grandfather was the only son of an only son - his gg grandfather Dimitris Agourakis born around 1852 was a Greek merchant ship owner and traded all around europe, he married a Scottish woman named Christina (Kristina) Marshall and their son Dimitris was born around 1882 in Patras Western Greece (mainland).

I have tried to locate a marriage record in this country, but can't find anything.

The name Agourakis originates from Crete and can been translated into English as Aggourakis, or Angourakis.

Would appreciate any advice anyone could give me :)

Go to the main page, click on Countries then on the next page click on Greece. You have to register to post but it's free.
