Gt x 2 aunt Charity Purvey had illegitimate daughter. She's Dorothy Coronna Purvey, found in birth index Jul-Sep 1902 in Kensington.

In 1911 census Dorothy is listed as Purney (I've sent correction) with mother Charity and stepfather William Davidson, in Kent.

I KNOW I've found Dorothy's baptism in Kensington on the London parishes on Ancestry, but I can't find her now! I've tried looking for Purvey, Dorothy Cor* etc and no luck.

I know Charity had an illegit son in 1897 called Herbert George Purvey and I know that on his birth cert Charity called herself Emily, but I can't find any Dorothys with either mother Charity or Emily and there are too many Dorothys if I don't specify mother.

I KNOW I've found this before. Am I going nuts????

There is an illegitimate Dorothy Corona - I assume indexed under surname. Sorry, I can't access the image.

They seem to have filmed only the left hand pages of the volume and it doesn't show any of the children's names on the original images altho' they appear in the index

Or is my PC playing up??

It was the same on mine, Sue. Also it says Renfrew at the top of the page, and the index says it is Lambeth, not Kensington, and the mother's name is Hetty Adams.

I was going along with Phoenix but thought it odd????

Okay, I got it wrong. Again:o

Interestingly (lol!) there was a huge peak in the popularity of the name Corona in the June and September quarters of 1902, not sustained in laters years.

Could it be coincidence that on 26th June 1902, Edward VII was crowned?;)

I think Renfrew is one of the Lambeth Workhouses. I'm just wondering how Ancestry know that the child of Hetty Adams is Dorothy Corona if the original page isn't shown

Freebmd shows Dorothy Corona Adams born in the same quarter as Dorothy Corrona Purvey, so perhaps it's simply a glitch not connecting to the correct page. And dur, yes of course Renfrew Road is the Workhouse.

But if you want Croydon Workhouse baptisms (I know Nell doesn't, but still) they won't be on Ancestry though the indexes may get online.

Oh dear. And I went through the images for the church I THOUGHT I'd found the baptism in and of course its not there!

Corona was popular when I was a lad, but it came in a bottle and was fizzy.
