Does anyone have access to these?

Someone has found a will for Joseph England who died in 1705 in Marshfield Gloucestershire. In it he leaves £5.00 each to his grandsons Thomas and Joseph Wilton to be bound as apprentices. I wonder if any one can see if they were.

Ann, I doubt whether anything will survive from that early. There was a tax on apprenticeships from (I think) 1714, but anyone apprenticed to a family member would not be listed. Origins have the SoG's index online, but it is arranged phonetically, so the devil to search and as I say, only starts in 1714.

Children are usually apprenticed at 14, so the children named would have to be five or under at the time of the will to stand any chance of appearing.

thanks Phoenix. I have no idea how old the children were or indeed if they are mine. I have several generations of Thomas and Joseph Wiltons so I expect so but difficult to prove.
