Hi All

I have never looked at Irish research before and wondered if anyone knew if the Irish BMDs were online at all? I have found a distant relative on the 1911 census and he gives his place of birth as Dublin. He is John Willis Shearing born 1900c (he is aged 10 on the 1911). He is the son of Henry (possibily William Henry) Shearing and Ann nee Gosnay.

I am also trying to establish when (Wiliam) Henry Shearing died. They had 2 children before John Willis who were born in Sheffield. Both of these children are with their grandmother on the 1911 census but John Willis is with his mother and her new husband, George Palin, who she married in 1909.

Any guidance, much appreciated :)

I have found some Irish records on Family Search Pilot site. I don't know how good the coverage is though.

Here is the link:

You can also find parish records here, but it's a pay-per-view site:

You may find some on here too. I found my Great Grandmother's baptism in Dublin and this helped me in my research.

I've been wondering about an Irish Death Cert.

My man, Zacheriah Pickard died in Dublin 1903 but lived in London (according to his will) Will I be able to find if a death cert is available? I've no idea what he was doing there, perhaps on business.

Yes, first you can check on FamilySearch Record Search (http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1199743328340#) because they have the Irish BMD indexes, and it does indeed list his death - Zachariah Pickard, age 66, Apr-Jun 1903, Dublin South district, vol 2, page 585. Then you can use the information to order the death cert from the Irish GRO:
GRO Ireland (http://www.groireland.ie/)
