Sorrys its a big ramble I don't expect anyone to answer this thread really!

George Oliphant and Letitia Adams narried in 1798 had these children as far as I can find out at the moment-

Sophia Matilda Oliphant abt 1808
Eliza Oliphant abt 1811

Obviously a ten year gap for more children but have no idea who they are! Although having said that I suppose Oliphant isn’t a common name so a trawl of the marriages for Oliphants might help must put that on my list!

Sophia Matilda Oliphant married James Foinett in 1825 and had as far as I can work out at the moment:-

Caroline Bartlett Foinett born 1826 baptised 1850 for some reason! who later married Frederick Featherstone in 1872 widow of Margaret Elizabeth Bartlett

Obviously room for more children but they are unknown at the moment to find this lot on a census would be a miracle!!!

It appears that Sophia Matilda Foinett nee Oliphant is on the 1851 census with Richard Bartlett and his children plus her sister Eliza!

James Foinett died in 1853 however he seems to have married a Martha Holland in 1844 and had a son James Foinett! I would assume this was bigamously as Sophia was alive and kicking and I believe living with Richard in 1851 certainly and now I believe it's probably her in 1841 too.

Richard Bartlett born 1805 and a certain Sophia (always assumed it wasn’t Sophia Matilda Oliphant but another one but is probably someone completely different for the first children) had from both the 1841 and 1851 census which has Sophia on both the only reason I know the 1851 is Sophia Matilda Foinett nee Oliphant is her sister Eliza Oliphant is on it too. Anyway children to Richard Bartlett:-

Caroline Bartlett born abt 1827
John Bartlett born born abt 1829
Thomas Bartlett born abt 1831
Frederick Bartlett born abt 1833
Richard Bartlett born abt 1837
Sophia Eliza Bartlett born abt 1838 who later married Frederick’s brother George Samuel Featherstone!
Margaret Elizabeth Bartlett born abt 1839 who was Frederick Featherstone’s first wife who died 1864 and is Frederick George Featherstone’s mother.
Letitia Eliza Bartlett born abt 1840 - have her baptism Richard and Sophia father and mother! This name Leititia keeps popping up remember Sophia Matilda Oliphant’s mother was Letitia Adams!
George Walters Bartlett born abt 1844 have his baptism Richard and Sophia father and mother! Although on census he is down sometimes as George William!
Agnes Rosina Bartlett born abt 1845 have her baptism Richard and Sophia father and mother however her name has been put as Agnes Primrose!
Edward Alfred Bartlett born abt 1846 have his baptism Richard and Sophia father and mother.
Edward Albert Bartlett born abt 1848 have his baptism Richard and Sophia father and mother assume first Alfred died haven’t confirmed that. Or it’s the same one but they give different birth dates.

I think that the first lot of children up to perhaps Sophia or Margaret is by another woman and Sophia left James and moved in with Richard probably late 1830s I've never really found another marriage around 1827 for Richard that fits but another thing is that the Oliphants and Foinetts must be connected to the Bartlets further back because of Caroline Bartlett Foinett's name!

I realise now Oliphant isn't an uncomman name :) although it seems to be not so common now.

This family is at the moment only connected by marriage but I need to unravel the Oliphants and Foinetts I think to get to the bottom of the intertwined marriages and relationships of the Bartlett and later Featherstone families.
