My gt x 3 grandparents James and Honor Broad had 8 children:
Mary b 1852 baptised 30 Nov 1864 St Columb
William b 1853 baptised 30 Nov 1864 St Columb
George 1856 baptised 30 Nov 1864 St Columb
James 1859
Eliza Ellen 1861 baptised 30 Nov 1864 St Columb
Elizabeth Ann 1864 baptised 1864 St Columb
Emma 1867 baptised 11 Jul 1867 St Columb
Katie 1871 baptised 18 May 1871 St Mawgan (Mawgan-in-Pydar)
In Elizabeth Ann's baptism the family abode is given as Whitewater (parish of Mawgan), which makes me wonder why they were all baptised in St Columb? Whitewater is a farm.
Katie was baptised 1871 in Mawgan-in-Pydar, by which time the family were living on Trevenna Farm.
So I wondered whether James had been baptised elsewhere. Re-checking Mawgan-in-Pydar I didn't find James' baptism - but I did find one for George in 1856!
The thing is - in the entries for the block baptisms in 1863, George, William and Mary are listed consecutively, followed by two unrelated baptisms, followed by Eliza. So was James baptised with this lot and then the vicar inadvertently missed him out?
And why was George baptised twice?
Or did James and Honor think that James was the one who'd been baptised instead of George?
