I have 2 sisters Isabella and Addeline Hill, baptised 1828 and 1826 Burton on Trent Staffordshire, both are with parents in 1841 as Beller and Adde in Lancashire

Isabella marries James Wilson in 1851.

Have found a marriage for a Adelaide Hill to a James Andrews in 1848 ? a son James born abt 1850. Adelaide is a widow in 1861

By 1891 Adelaide Andrews and Isabella Wilson are widows living together as lodgers with Robert Shorrocks.

1901 has them as sisters, but Isabella is now a Andrews

What i am trying to figure out is/was Adelaide, born Addeline ?.

I`m also trying to help a new contact who is decended from Adelaide find when James died or even when/where he was born.

Any help appreciated.

Sounds highly likely. You could get the marriage cert to be sure (to check father's details). UPDATE:I hadn't read all your post, so see my next one!)

I expect the 1901 census is a mistake with the surnames. Have you looked for death registrations? :)

Does he/she have Adelaide's marriage cert or the 1851 census for her?

No Merry, i have only just found the marriage for her and i think the 1851 census would be in the same area as the one Marg found on my other thread from FMP and is missing on Ancestry.

Presumably your contact is descended from the son James too? Does she have his birth cert? Is it this one?

Births Sep 1850
Andrews James Manchester 20 698

and for that matter, does she have his marriage cert as that would give an occ for James senior, which could help.

Have you checked the FMP indexes?

I tried the indexes for the water damaged stuff but couldn't see anything.

As you have found the marriage, does your contact have the son's marriage cert as there are several James Andrews b in the Manchester area around the same time.

Oh i never thought of that,

Have just found young James baptism 1 Jan 1852, it looks like there was another son too, John baptised 31 Dec 1854 both at the Cathedral

Off to look for more

No burials on Family search for them
