Oh, Nell, I can see this has affected you.

I had a black moment too this afternoon looking at the burial registers for St Blazey, Cornwall with whooping cough and measles sweeping through the children. Also inflammation of the bowels. Poor precious mites.

Elizabeth - I've just gone through some Padstow burial registers. In the early 1840s there were pages of children's deaths through scarlet fever, followed by an outbreak of measles in the summer. Makes us realise how lucky we are!
