For my daughter's OH's side of the tree:

You would need to look at her marriage certificate to see her father's name before looking for her on previous censuses and looking for her birth. It just so happens that their marriage cert is on ancestry in the LMA records and her father is James Webster, sawyer. Isabella is full age, spinster.

Looking at your dates, she can't have been born 1858 if she was full age in 1871!

Thanks, KiteRunner - the census information for this family is very unreliable!

Sorry - on review her dob should be circa 1848.

Birthplace is wrong, as it's ditto for Aldgate, but this has possibilities:

1861 Census
WEBSTER, Isabella
EAST LONDON, London, Middlesex
RG09 piece 210 folio 35 page 21

This looks like the same girl:

1851 Census
WEBSTER, Isabel
STEPNEY, Middlesex
HO107 piece 1551 folio 19 page 30

Her father is James, an Engineer.

Thanks, Phoenix - we've been out all day so only just seen this. (We went to Cliveden.)

I'll look up the references later this evening when I've sorted myself out!

Out of curiosity, is she on any censuses AFTER her marriage? There are lots of Peter Fuchs in London, all bakers so far as I can tell, but I can't spot a Peter & Isabella on fmp.

Phoenix, they are transcribed as FRISK in 1891 and are in Pancras.

I think this is Isabella in 1911 - they started to use the surname FOX.
She was a monthly nurse on one census, so she is probably looking after mum and baby.

1911 Census
FOX, Isabella
ST PANCRAS, London

Don't you just love it when they just say born London?! Or, as in the 1911, no details whatsoever, though I reckon you probably have found the right person.

If her birth is recorded, this is the nearest there is in any of the London areas:

Births Jun 1846

Webster Isabella Bethnal Green 2 85

Phoenix, thanks - that is worth investigating.

Here is Isabella's son Peter John Fox in 1911. They had changed their name by now.
The family is descended from Rose Fox.

There was a very rude transcription on Ancestry which has now been changed after it was pointed out - F**K.
Perhaps the family were fed up of people saying and writing it incorrectly!
