I wonder if SKS with a sub could have a peek at the occupation of Henry Condon b1874, living in West Ham, Essex. And confirm the place of birth as Wapping too, pretty please :)

I have found a Henry Condon on other censuses born in Poplar and Whitechapel, which seem to be very close to Wapping. Have you discounted him, or is he a possible?

I'm looking at this for someone else.

We have a marriage for Henry and Emma in Aug 1901 (she has the cert) where he gives his name as Joseph Henry Condon, Father, Daniel. Joseph Henry's occupation is Hammerman (?) I am reasonably confident that the family in West Ham in 1911 is the right one as one of the children was my contact's father.
Joseph Henry died in Ilford in 1943 aged 70.
I can find no baptism (the family may have been catholic, there's also a possibility that at some point they came over from Ireland but we don't know how far back!)
I've found this afternoon a possible birth for Joseph Condon in 1874 in Greenwich (yes I know it's the wrong side of the river but hey!) but can't find anything to confirm it. My contact has already sent for one birth cert for a Henry Condon 1873, St George in the East and that was wrong. Possibly the one you've found above.

There's a possible sighting in 1901 but he's boarding so not a lot of help. Similar in 1891.
He's proving very elusive!

I've just found a Henry Conden b1872 in an orphanage in 1881. That might explain why he's so vague about where he was born....

The orphanage is for Catholic Pauper Boys! Looks even more promising now.
