I have the birth of a girl who was adopted at just a couple of months old.

Alice Edith Louise Isles
Dec qr 1900 Kensington 1a 139

She was adopted by a couple with the surname UZZELL and was with them by the 1901 census.

I'm wondering if a baptism shows up for her on Ancestry - would sks check for me, please?

I'm wondering if mum could be Edith Isles who is a servant in Kensington on the 1901 census. She is 31 and was born in Wiltshire.

Then the baby would be named Alice and Louise after adoptive mother and Edith after birth mother.

It's not my tree (for a friend) otherwise I'd get the certificate for her.

Found her as Alice Edith Louise Iles bap on 20 Jan 1901, Mother Edith Iles of 200 Portobello Road, Domestic Servant.

I believe Iles and Isles were frequently interchanged. Also Iles can be a corruption of Hiles, which is one of the names in my tree, some of my links do go back to Wiltshire!

PS. Forgot to say, Baptised at All Saints Church, Notting Hill.

Crawfie, many thanks, that's a great help. I'm sorry not to have replied before. My sister and b-i-l came over and we have been out.

Thanks again, progress for my friend's tree.
