Hi Michael

I am related to these Randalls - not sure what you are looking for, but may be able to help. Robert Lawrence's brother, John Holmes Randall was my great grandfather. Robert L married Clara Mary Wills and they lived in Cromer. They had 8 children that I know of and I met a couple of them in the 70s when they were very elderly..... what info are you looking for?

It may take Michael a while to respond, he is at this moment on his way to Turkey to take up a teaching post. I'm sure he'll find Internet access whilst he is there.

Marriage

1881 Q1 Erpingham 4b 123

To Clara Mary Wills who doesn't seem to have been married previously but who had a daughter Winifred W Weir in 1877 (birth not registered that I can find on freeBMD)

Winifred is living with them on the 1881, 1891 & 1901 census but is listed as Winifred Randall on the 1891.

I can't find Clara on the 1871.

There is a spate of Weir births to a Lambert & Annie Weir around Norwich from about 1880. Can't see any real connection except that they moved from Lakenham in 1881 to Heigham in 1891.

One of those mysteries....

According to FTM Robert Lawrence Randall is my second cousin 3 times removed ! - I'm descended from his grandfather (b1768)

Ha ha Hi Sarah... small world eh? I have only just found this forum. I spent hours last night trawling church registers to try and find Lawrence's (1727) birth place. Have you had any luck with this Sarah? I was so excited when I found his death entry and that of his wife, and then the baptismal entries for John, Robert Case, Wiilliam and Lawrence.

Hi Jessica,
so far I've searcheded Roughton & Lammas With Little Hautbois

Lammas With Little Hautbois:
children of Lawrence & Amy (still haven't found their marriage)
James Randall.............. chr 07.01.1759
Ann Randall................. chr 19.05.1761
Sarah Randall.............. chr 30.09.1763 buried 15.07.1766
Mary Randall............... chr 25.05.1766 buried 24.11.1766
Lawrence Randall......... chr 07.02.1768
Sarah Randall.............. chr 12.05.1771 (IGI says 19th May but I read 12th)

Lawrence Randall of Tuttington (single) married Ann Case (single) by licence on 13th September 1800 - witnesses were Robert Case & Sarah (?? Randall??)

I haven't found Ann Case's baptism yet

Do you have a Nazariah (sp?) Brett in your tree anywhere? He married Elizabeth Randall on March 31st 1741 in either Roughton or Lammas With Little Hautbois (I didn't write it down)

BTW - Welcome to the forum - it's a great place with lots of friendly, helpful people :D :D

Good Morning Sarah

Going back to your first post re. William and Sarah Randall
parents to John Holmes Randall (my great grandfather), Anna Maria and Robert Lawrence ... I have info on Sarah's line which comes from photocopied pages of an old prayer book which cames down the Holmes line. My brother owns the prayer book.
The book was evidently used in some kind of court case with a reference to Robert Lawrence Randall (sworn 23rd day of July 1915)... before the commisioner for oaths.
Anyway... the inside reads:
William holmes his book March 23 1793
Elizabeth the wife of Wm Holmes was buried June 8 1786
Anne the wife of Wm Holmes was buried August 12 1805
(different handwriting) William Holmes died 18??
Was buried February 17 1815
Next page read
William Holmes is my name and England is my nation
Caister (NB this refers to Caister St Edmunds near Norwich, not the one near Great Yarmouth) is my dwelling place and Christ is my salvation
Anne Holmes is my name and England is my nation
Caister is my dwelling place and Christ is my salvation
Mary Anna Holmes is my name (followed by childish drawing of a little man in a hat)
Susan wife of John Shore Holmes baptized May 21 1790 married August 9 1812 Died June 23 1871.
William Holmes married Elizabeth Burgess November 17th 1775
William Holmes married to Anne Oliver May 27 1788
Eliza daughter of William and Elizabeth Holmes was baptized April 11 1776
William son of William and Elizabeth Holmes was baptized October 14 1777
Sarah daughter of William and Elizabeth Holmes was baptized Spetember 29 1782
William Holmes married to Rebecca Hammond November 27 1810
John Shore Son of William and Ann Holmes was baptized March 1 1789
Francis son of William and Ann Holmes was baptized August 21 1791
Mary Anne daughter of William and Ann Holmes was baptized October 2 1794
Allen son of William and Ann Holmes was baptized April 10 1801
Francis son of William and Anne Holmes died July 8 1871

Back to the Randalls
Lawrence Randall buried Roughton May 21st 1815 (age 88 years) entry no 10
Amy Randall buried Roughton June 5th 1821 (age 88 years) entry no 30
Roughton burials 1813-1831

You already have all their children's baptisms in Lammas with Little Hautbois (baptisms, marriages, burials 1723-1776).... did you notice James (1759)?
The marriages of Ann (John Drossier of Banningham 3.12.1795) No. 64 and Sarah (William Golden of North walsham 29.9.1795) No. 62 are in the Tuttington marriages 1756-1813. Both witnessed by Lawrence Randall jnr (NB all signed own name - there are other Randalls in Tuttington who sign X)
Lawrence (of Tuttington) married Ann Case (of Lammas) in Lammas 13.9.1800 - No.92

... and finally Lawrence, Ann and son William (who I hadn't been able to trace) are all buried in Themelthorpe... Burials 1813-1997
Lawrence (abobe Hindolveston) 20.11.1833 (age 65)
Ann (abode Themelthorpe) 21.10.1825 (age 50)... gives us birth date of 1775
William (abode Stibbard???) 22.10.1827 (age 24)

I still can't find the birth of Ann or her marriage to Lawrence. Looks like Lawrence (1768) may have gone to live with your Lawrence (1807) when Ann died??

PS. Sarah, Just noted your entry for Lawrence and Ann's wedding - well done. Did you notice that the same page has a Sarah Case marrying Robert Harper - 26 Oct 1808 (image 21)
