Oh thank you, JBee :) -

On the new TNA site, using the "person search", I think I have found a document relating to Henry William Wicks (), that I have never come across before!!

A trip to Kew is called for, I think

Thank you again.

When I tried that "person search" it just came up with all entries that had a first name matching the first name and a surname matching the surname I was searching for anywhere in the entry, just like the normal catalogue search does, i.e. if you look for John Smith it might come back with an entry that says "John Brown and Matthew Smith", so I gave up on it.

Can you not enclose the name in quotes so it is searched as a unit?

No, because it has separate boxes for first name and surname:

Perhaps you can fox it by putting both names in the surname box.

Well I just searched for "Henry William" (1st box) and "Wicks" (surname box) and some dates and it threw up this http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/search/name_search_result.aspx?Page=1&FirstName=Henry+William&LastName=Wicks&DateFrom=1925&DateTo=1985&SearchType=Name

It includes a bankruptcy file I had never come across before on the old TNA website

I was "well pleased", as my children would say!

I just thought I'd try out the UK history photo finder on the site http://labs.nationalarchives.gov.uk/wordpress/ and it doen't seem to work

It worked for me when I tried it yesterday. However, if you put in a place name, don't include the county, otherwise it says there are no hits.

The person search seems to be completely useless, though.
