View Full Version : Wills question
Nothing added to BK6 for this thread
If (in 1892) a person died unexpectedly in Scotland whilst on holiday, would their will be proved in Scotland or in England (their usual residence)

At their usual residence, but it is possibly a bit more complicated than that, it does sometimes depend where the bulk of an estate is situated.
However, the proving of a Will has nothing to do with where you happen to die and someone who ordinarily lived in England would not be bound by the laws of Scotland just because he happened to die there.

OK, thanks very much OC, I don't expect he left anything in any case!!
Have a look on Scotlandspeople - its free to look and if you find it - you can download all the pages for a fee.
(hopefully its not a very long one written in pencil and a very blurred copy). lol
I did, JBee! There wasn't one, so I was trying to determine if I needed to check Eng/Wales and it would seem I do.
