Nothing to add to BK6 from this thread

Is there a secret hiding place for IoW baptisms and marriages before 1837? I'm particularly looking for a marriage around 1825.

Have you tried on the FamilySearch Record Search pilot site, Merry?

FamilySearch Record Search (http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1199743328340#p=home)

I've looked there for the marriage, but no luck. The wife was from Newport and the husband was from Portsmouth. First child b Newport abt 1827, so I was guessing they married there.

Names are Mary Ann Oliver b 1805/6 and Thomas Pierce b 1802ish.

You need a bit of practice using that site, then - Thomas Pierce married Mary Ann Oliver 13 Jun 1826 "Newport, Hampshire"!

Oooh thanks. I put in Mary Oliver and Isle of Wight and it said there were no matches at all.

I've just done it again and got the same result. Should I have chosen Hampshire or is it something else?

Historically, and until quite recently, the Isle of Wight was part of Hampshire.

In 'Ampshire, 'Ereford and Hessex they speak of little else.
