I found Thomas Dudley's marriage to Elizabeth Chew on FamilySearch - 17th October 1796 at St Lawrence, Foleshill, I think I may have found the family later in Nuneaton, but I am desperate to find where Thomas fits into the Foleshill Dudleys (if indeed he does).

I have failed to find either him, or Elizabeth anywhere else before or around that time ....

Any ideas?

Oooh, I've remembered why we are supposed to quake at the metion of TD - He's the one born in Spain in 1851 but in Warks in 1841!! lol (bit slow on the uptake here!)

This one is a missing one I think - I can't fit him in to the family - but if I can it may help me work out where Thomas and his father Thomas came from before they appeared in Foleshill

You can get the full marriage details via the Warks FHS. See:

Who is Thomas Dudley bur 8th Dec 1782 in Foleshill, living at Bell Green?

There's another Thomas Dudley bur 8th March 1804 and Elizabeth Dudley, widow, bur 13th Sept 1812

There's also a burial for a John Chew 8th Oct 1767

All from here:

I've got all those except the John Chew thanks Merry - it is reassuring because the only Chews I could find come from round Stroud way - which feels slightly odd as that is where I am now ... I keep thinking there must be a connection :) The 1782 burial is Thomas of Spain's father.

Well the good news is that they were both otp and were married by banns. The witnesses don't help though...

I'm starting to wonder if I might have my Thomases crossed -

Thos , otp 31 Oct 1757 by banns To: Mary CARPENTER , otp Signed Dudly Witnesses: Abraham Carpender; J.H.
Thos , otp 20 May 1793 by banns To: Sarah HALL , otp Witnesses: Thomas Coltman, Wm Hutchinson
Thos , otp 17 Oct 1796 by banns To: Elizth CHEW , otp Witnesses: Benjn Phillips, Wm Hutchinson

I have always had Thos (m Sarah Hall) as the son of Thos (m Mary Carpenter), but based on nothing more than the fact that only one Thos appears in the baptism records....
