I have possibly posted about this before - apologies if I have :o

James Jones was born abt 1800 in Bishopsgate, Middlesex according to 1861 census.

I have him in 1841 with his wife Mary Ann and son James

But I can't spot them in 1851 or after 1861. They are not at either of the above addresses. Nor are they at the address given by their son on his marriage in 1846.

It's very probable that they died 1861-1871 but there are too many possibles on the Death Index to be sure! I'd really like to find them on 1851 to try and narrow down place and DoB in the vain hope I can get further back with them!

For information James and his son, James were upholsterers.

The wife's name is just Mary on the 1841 census and on James jr's baptism (and John's baptism on the same day). She is supposedly 30 - 34 on the 1841 census, so it's quite possible she isn't the same person as Mary Ann who is 61 in 1861, isn't it? In which case James might not have a Mary with him in 1851.

I'd never noticed that Kite :o

On James jnr's marriage cert ( also on LMA) to Mary Ann Chapman the witnesses are James Jones and Mary Ann Jones.

Off to look for a possible remarriage for James Jones snr!

I've checked the LMA Marriages and although there are several marriages between James Jones and a Mary Ann in the right time frame none of the Jameses are upholsterers:(

Back to square one!
