Was dad definitely Jess or could it be James? There aren't many Grigsbys so I would have thought we might be able to find them.

She might have been born in 1853 according to the 1861 census.

Could she have been wrongly registered? Not as Mary Ellen, but as Mary Ann?

Now I know why I didn't get birth cert when I first went onto this lot.... Couldn't even see anything on the IGI to help.

This was sometimes confusing as "Ellen" married a Thomas Sheldrick, whose parents were "Thomas Sheldrick and Ellen (Smith)" Had to think a bit when looking at this lot...
