Think found rellie in Newgate ???

Seem to have found one of my Knights in Newgate Prison on the 1881 census ,is there anywhere I can write to for his records and what might it show me ?

The prison register will tell you more. These are usually at the relevant records office so I'm thinking the Guildhall, City of London or possibly the London Metropolitan Archives. In addition, quarterly returns which mention prisoners and their health, are at The National Archives in Kew.

I do know my grandfather was in there too for a while never thought to send for his records ? maybe I'll kill two birds with one stone ?? oops maybe shouldn't say kill LOL.
