Is he the one born in Stanley, Gloucestershire and the husband of Sarah who shows up in Hunslet in later years?

brenmac

When you say you want his address, do you mean his birth address?

I can't even find him with any confidence at all before his marriage. Surely his baptism isn't likely to give an address if he was born in a village?

Do you know when his father died?

ah going to look on the mariage cert now brenda xxx

Merry
04-04-10, 17:47
Well, the 1851 and 1841 censuses were before his marriage!

I was wondering why you only 'believe' his father was Edward Holder if you have the marriage cert. What did it say about Edward?

Most of my country bumpkins lived in places like "The village". Street names and numbers were usually only used in towns and cities.

It's in Gloucestershire!

Stanningley, however, is at Pudsey, just west of Leeds.

If Joseph was born in Stroud or Stanley [presumably you have found this on the census?] then 'Stanley' is likely to be either Kings Stanley or Leonard Stanley - both small villages near Stroud, Gloucestershire
