If that's what was written in the PR, then there's nothing all that unusual about it.
My illegitimate lot often have "Reputed father" or "supposed father" written in the margin. It was an important bit of information as far as child support was concerned.

No, I don't think it necessarily means he admitted paternity, more that the mother named him as the father and the Vicar was convinced enough to write the name in the register.

I think if the father had admitted paternity, he wouldn't be the "supposed" father, he would just be the father, if you see what I mean.
