BK6 updated from this thread
I'm trying to discover what happened to my relative, Margaret Huish, nee Mitchell, but am stuck......
Margaret Mitchell was b 1845 in Keynsham, Somerset.
In Oct 1869 she married John Henry Huish in Clifton, Bristol. There's a submitted entry on Family Search saying she was 24 and father Thomas Mitchell, which is right. The details for John Henry Huish say he was 30 and his father was Jacob Huish.
In 1871 Margaret Huish said she was married and was with her parents in Ashley Down, nr Bristol. After this she vanishes without trace.
I think her husband was John Henry Huish b abt 1837 in Whitestaunton, Somerset as his father is Jacob. I've got him as follows:
1841 aged 4 with parents (indexed as Hervy)
1851 aged 13 with parents
1861 aged 23 single
1871 can't find him
1881 aged 44, with new wife, Mary Barton, who he married in 1877.
Now, the other little snippet of info is this......In June 1871 there is a piece in the Bristol Mercury about a young man named George Vowles being charged with using threatening language against his wife, Annie Vowles. The cause of their disharmony seems to be that on March 23rd 1871 George had written a slightly amorous letter to another woman which his wife had found in his pocket and she had accused him of infidelity. The 'other woman' was named as Mrs Margaret Huish of Ashley Down!
I've tried investigating George and Annie Vowles in case George went off with Margaret Huish. However, George is with his wife, Annie, in 1871 and 1891 (no children either time) but I can't find them in 1881.
I can't find a death for Margaret Huish between 1871 and 1877 - can you, or is she under a patio somewhere?
