If I could get a copy of the original register from the RO as the death cert would it contain the handwriting of the person who registered the death?

Just trying to work out if it is worth the extra expense (1 pound) and hassle going through the RO instead of the GRO?

At the most it will only be the signature..........

You would have to ask them to take a photocopy of the register, or they might hand write it out or type it! Sometimes they can't photocopy for technical reasons the register book is too fat/old being the most common) Then you might find the informant signed with an X or was the wrong person!

Merry I always ask for a copy of the original register, if possible, when I order from an RO and have always gotten it too. I just didn't know if it was worthwhile to do so.

Glenn was the person who told me to do it this way. It's the only way to get my ancestors handwriting, at this stage anyway.
