Seven in Paulton Family Old Age Penioners

Paulton second oldest resident, 94 years-old Mr Albert Curtis, and five of his nine sons and one of his three daughters are all drawing their old age pensions, which many of their friends believe must be a record.

Oldest of the sons Arthur (74), followed by Jack (71), Albert (69), Alec (68), James (66) and their oldest sister, Beatrice-Mrs E Pike, who is (65).

The remaining survivors of this 15 strong family aged between 63 and 51 from the eldest are William, Hector, Edward, Gladys (Mrs F Bailey), Dorothy (Mrs Pope) and Charles.

Someone drew my attention to a newspaper article they had found in a local rag about one George Holden, th oldest resident in somewhere or other, born about 1799.

Old George had plenty to say about his life and times including the following which I thought was a little gem:

"We were married 68 years and we had eighteen or nineteen children, I disremember how many exactly"

Several of the boys became professional footballers and once the family took on the Taunton team in a friendly.

With several long-lived ancestors, I always start at 100 years old and work backwards. Perhaps nowdays, we better started at 110 !!

My oldest known rellie (a great-aunt) died at 99.5. She said she didn't want all the fuss of reaching 100.

Some of my rellies have very long lived. They are well over 100 and must be still going strong as there is lack of death registrations for them. :p
