My great grandmothers brother and two of his sons have gone missing in 1911. I have found his wife and the rest of the children.

Here is all of the family in 1901:

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7814&iid=WARRG13_2920_2921-0507&fn=Richard&ln=Birch&st=d&ssrc=&pid=16962056

I am looking for Richard Birch born around 1864/5 in Shirley, Solihull area of Warwickshire. Also his sons William Albert (usually known as Albert) born c 1886 in Acocks Green and George Herbert born c 1893 in Shirley. It's all the same area and comes under Solihull registration district although Acocks Green and Yardley, where they have lived, is listed as Worcestershire.

Wife and family are in Sparkhill, Birmingham in 1911. It does say she is married and anyway Richard didn't die until 1951. They had 10 children and all still alive in 1911.

I have emailed their grandson and he thinks they may have been at work hay trussing or hay dressing but they should still be recorded on the census.

Help, can anyone spot them? Don't use any credits as I have a full sub, just need pointing in the right direction.

Oooooer ~ yes

It's :-

Albert Bircher and he's a student in Aston ~ says he was born in Amington, Warks 1886
looking on a google map, I'd say Amington's completely the wrong area ~ sorry, can't find another :(

I've found an Albert in Kings Norton district married to a Charlotte. Age is a bit out but he was born in Yardley (right area). Trouble is, I'm not sure if this one married at all. He was killed in 1915 at Gallipoli.
I have emailed a cousin who is more closely related to ask about a possible marriage.

and presumably there's nothing useful in the WW1 records on Ancestry ?

I'll go and check. The CWGC site has his death but no family detail about him at all.

I can't find anything other than his medal card and the died in the great war section. Not telling me anything I didn't already know.

Albert W Birch
Private 10910
4th Battallion Worcestershire Regiment

that's annoying ~ no mention of next of kin ?

I no longer have Ancestry
Looked on CWGC which only has the barest details (died 19th June) + pic of the Helles Memorial

wonder if it would be worth contacting them ?

No, not even his parents. I know it's definitely him as his nephew who I have met and in contact with has visited Gallipoli and knew all about this from family knowledge. I have emailed him to ask about a wife but still waiting for an answer. He is in Canada.
