I'm trying to trace this man's parents:

The parents' marriage was in 1886.
23 Oct 1886 • Redruth, Cornwall, England
Date from newspaper announcement
The bride was given as Bessie Noble, not Elizabeth.
William Henry was from St Austell.

I can't find them on the 1891 Census - had they already emigrated?
No further births have yet been found for the couple.

There are New York naturalisation records showing he arrived in New York 12 Jul 1889:

And sorry to say the 1890 US census has not survived, so we can't look for them on that.

The parents and James are all in New York on the 1910 Federal census. James apparently married Florence in Manhattan. Haven't look any farther. Sent you a PM.

EDIT:
Ancestry had the father down as William H Bernatt. I've made the correction.

Thanks to you both, Kate and Janet.

I'm a DNA match to a descendant of this family so I need to delve back into Cornish records to see the connection. I have Bennetts in my tree, but from the 18th Century.
