We think we have made a breakthrough for a family member through DNA matches.

I'm now trying to change the name of the DNA group which is allocated to all the shared matches as we have found a common surname. Despite following Ancestry's instructions, I'm unable to do it. I'm sure it's very simple when you know how!

Editing or deleting groups
Deleting a group doesn't delete your matches; it just removes your matches from the group. Deleting a group is permanent. To get a group back after deleting it, you'll need to recreate it.

1. From your list of DNA matches, hover over the pencil pencil on a match who's a part of the group you want to change or delete and click Add to group.
2. In the panel that appears on the right side of the page, click the pencil pencil next to the group you want to change or delete.
3. To rename the group or change the color, make the changes and click Save. To delete the group, click Delete group, then click Yes, delete group in the next menu.

Which bit of that are you having trouble with, Elizabeth?

When I click on the pencil I get a box with the different coloured groups except for the green one which I want to rename. It just asks me to create a custom group. I can't edit the green group.

Okay, in part 1, choose someone who is not in the group that you want to rename, instead of someone who is.

Well, that was super simple! Thanks, Kate.
Why didn't they tell you that in the instructions?
