Can anyone else access this Irish civil record site:

https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

I've not been able to get in for two days. Tried various browsers etc to no avail.

The problem comes when I tick the box for, "In order to proceed, please solve this captcha." - swirls forever!

I just tried on my phone and I have the same issue. So it's nothing personal, Merry!

A new site to me, it could be useful when it decides to work properly....

Thanks!

Yes, Sue, free access to the images for civil reg - births from the start to 1922, marriages to 1947 and deaths to 1972. I have come to realise that, whilst seeing the images is great, there are a lot more holes in the Irish civil reg system than in the records for Eng/Wales! Of course when the site isn't working, that's an extra layer of frustration....... :(

I looked at their Contact Us page, but I can't get through the CAPTCHA on that page either, so can't contact them!

You could try emailing [email protected] which is the email address they give if you want a record redacted. It's the only email address I could find for them.

Ooh, thanks Kate! I will give them until this afternoon and then email if it's still not working!

What browsers are you using? It can sometimes make a difference. I'm using Google.

Merry

Erm, I'm currently using edge, but also tried safari and my OH tried a couple of others, but I don't think either were google. Will check it out, thanks.

Merry

Nope - that didn't work either.

Kat, do you get the captcha bit come up, or is that missing when you enter the site?

I've not seen it on the site for ages, then it appeared for me a few days ago and worked ok (no sign of the Click the traffic lights/zebra crossings bit!) until yesterday.

Katarzyna

Frustrating. Same this morning.

I got in yesterday, and they were advertising new additions. Perhaps that's what is causing the problems?

But I am getting in. Have you tried clearing cookies?

Merry

OH did when he tried to get in on his laptop yesterday.

Now it says:

Whilst I'm waiting for the other site to come back, I've been looking at GRONI which I've not had to use before as all my research in Ireland has either been in the Republic or before 1920. I'm wondering about this:

GRONI

Index searches available
basic index view – free
enhanced index view – one credit*
view full record or image – five credits*

I can't find what would be included in an enhanced index view? Does anyone know?
