I have seen that but I'm none the wiser.

This man is a mystery but there is one thing I do know and that is his aunt Sarah Kirby nee Kendall was born 1788 lived and died in Ashley, Northamptonshire.

On every census she put she was born in Ashley. So one of her siblings is John Kendall's parent. I found her in a strange way her son James Kirby had an affair with Caroline Kendall nee Cook (John Kendall's wife) and had a child and a pure miracle he actually put cousin as relationship to Caroline on a census even though they had just had a daughter who was also on the census as a Kendall - but he was in fact John's cousin who was already dead.

I found Sarah's marriage entry but no clue as to her parentage. I need to go to Ashley to find her baptism but I haven't got around to it yet mainly because I'm not sure Sarah was actually being very accurate with her birth place. Its a long way for a goose chase at the moment.

I can't even find John Kendall's and Caroline Cook's (she came from Docking) marriage, I haven't got a clue where to start. I have looked at BMDs after 1837 till I'm blue in the face. I believe she was still living in Docking in 1837 because there is a baptism for her first child Eliza in March 1837 in St Marys records Docking which I have). I have looked through all the marriages for St George Martyr in Queens Square. I have searched high a low in the LMA which is now online! Nothing zilch.

On every census she put she was born in Ashley. So one of her brothers is John Kendall's father.

Or it could be that John was illegitimate and his mother was Sarah's sister.

oooops yes of course :)

Also there is a couple of people in Ashley called Jonathan and Hannah Kendall nee Mears on a couple census that could be related if not his parents but nothing to prove that at the moment unfortunately and I've tried.

Also there's an awful lot of Kendalls knocking about that area, Northamptonshire/Leicestershire/Bedfordshire - a lot!

Market Harborough seems to be especially high on Kendalls it seems to connect Leicestershire/Northamptonshire and the border seems to have changed a few times over the centuries.
