What is the document that your cousin is trying to read, Allan?

Thanks Kate - she says she found a familytree that was filled in 1970 and is on Genereunited ?? I don't quite understand that as no-one used computers then - I presume she means copied from a tree done in 1970 ??

I imagine she means it was written out in 1970 and later scanned or photographed and the image is uploaded to GR. If she can read any of the children's names it might help because Robert A Roberts is quite a common name and I can't find a death which fits exactly with what you have. Edit - but if you think the children might still be alive, PM the name(s) to me instead of posting them.

Okay, there is a Robert A Roberts marriage in Apr-Jun 1911 in Swansea to either Elizabeth Phillips or Eliza A Pugh. Can you tell whether the wife's name is either of those?

I'm not saying this is him but if you have a doc that's difficult to read but maybe not impossible, it might help if you had some names and see if they are possible fits with the doc or not:

This is the 1921 census:

64 Lan Street, Morriston, Swansea, Glamorganshire, Wales

Robert Arthur Roberts Head Male 1888 33 Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, Wales General Labourer Rees & Kirbys Steel Roof Bridge Builders
Eliza Ann Roberts Wife Female 1889 32 Morriston, Glamorganshire, Wales Domestic Duties -
Lizzie Marcia Roberts Daughter Female 1912 8 Morriston, Glamorganshire, Wales - -
Maisie Roberts Daughter Female 1914 6 Morriston, Glamorganshire, Wales - -
Evelyn Roberts Daughter Female 1920 - Morriston, Glamorganshire, Wales - -

This, for the last child on that census:

Births Dec 1920 (>99%)
Roberts Evelyn Pugh Swansea 11a 2193

fits with the marriage Kate found. (still doesn't mean it's the right family for you unless the names match your doc)

EDIT and the name Evelyn is what you were hoping for?

Looking at the 1921 census free search on FMP:
Swansea
Robert Arthur Roberts born 1888 Welshpool
Eliza Ann Roberts 1889 Morriston Glamorgan
Lizzie Marcia Roberts 1912 Morriston Glamorgan
Maisie Roberts 1914 Morriston Glamorgan
Evelyn Roberts 1920 Morriston Glamorgan

Edit - snap, Merry!

I met Evelyn a couple of times - she had a son my age named Vaughan - I am pretty certain this is the family especially the Welshpool and Evelyn connection - am I jumping the gun here ???

It all seems to fit as far as I can see, but do the names seem to fit with the blurry document?

Robert Arthur Roberts married Eliza A Pugh june qtr 1911 - Evelyn Roberts MMN Pugh was b 1920 - so I am pretty certain we have the right Robert Arthur b 1888 Welshpool
ADDED
My cousin is a Nurse and said she will take the documents in to work tomorrow and get them photocopied

Yes Merry - the name Evelyn was definitely one of the family - she came to Garston a few times and I met her - ...so she was 6 years older than my mum and dad and that fits what I remember of her - I am confident you and Kate have definitely found the right family - thank you both so much - my cousin will be delighted - she is 69 and still nursing - proud of her xxxxx

Evelyn married a Jones, and she and Robert are together on the 1964 electoral register. Elizabeth M (Lizzie Marcia) is with Robert and Eliza on the 1935-6 electoral register but not the 1938-9 one and Maisie isn't with them on any electoral register that I have looked at.

Possible marriages, both Swansea:
Apr-Jun 1934 Ernest R Smith / Maisie Roberts
Jul-Sep 1935 Henry T Ford / Elizabeth M Roberts.

1939 Register entry for the Fords - their daughter's (corrected) name fits nicely:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/61596/images/tna_r39_7411_7411g_004?backlabel=ReturnSearchResul ts&queryId=f4f0c555c9dabf0a990b112a99a79892&pId=46033296
They are in Pontardawe, so no use looking at the Swansea electoral registers for them.
I won't post the daughter's name until I have checked for a death, because although the 1939 Register entry being opened should mean the person is no longer alive, there have been some mistakes. Elizabeth's dob is shown as 15 Oct 1912 which fits with Elizabeth Marcia's birth being registered Oct-Dec 1912, so I think it is her.

Not found the Smiths on the 1939 Register yet.

Okay, yes, Marcia Annette Ford born 20 Jul 1936 West Glamorgan, married name Wright (married in 1959), Marcia Annette Wright died 2003 Swansea with same dob given. So it looks unlikely that Elizabeth / Lizzie Marcia emigrated to South Australia if her daughter seems to have lived in Wales all her life. However I have not found Elizabeth Marcia's death record yet so maybe she did emigrate.

On the 1936/7 Swansea electoral register, Ernest Ronald Smith and Maisie Smith are at 56 Glantawe Street, Morriston, and on the 1937/8 they are at 12 Market Street, Morriston. There is a Maisie Smith death Jan-Mar 1938 Swansea, age 23, which would fit with her being born in 1914. On the 1938/9 electoral register Ernest Ronald Smith is at 12 Market Street but no Maisie.

So I don't think she emigrated to South Australia.

Henry T Ford's dob on the 1939 Register is 23 Nov 1911 and there is a Henry T Ford death Apr-Jun 1960 West Glamorgan age 48.

Ah, finally found Elizabeth's death reg - her middle name is down as Mercia, not Marcia: Jul-Sep 1981 Swansea, Elizabeth Mercia Ford, dob 15 Oct 1912.
