Sorry, this is going to be one of those long reads!
I have managed to figure out from my DNA matches that my 3xg-grandfather was Henry Parker born about 1822 Southwark, son of James Parker 1796-1867 and Mary Ann Colwell 1805-1886. I haven't found a baptism for Henry but I have DNA matches on his father's side and on his mother's father's side (her father being Edward Augustus Caesar Burnaby), so even though Henry was born a few years before James and Mary Ann's marriage, I am confident that they are both his parents. James was baptised 16 Jul 1796 Alverstoke, Hampshire, and Mary Ann was baptised 17 Nov 1805 St James Westminster - Maryann B.B. (= base born) daur of Maryann Colwell & Edwd Berneby, born 23 Oct 1805. There is no mention of her in Edward Burnaby's will.

17 Dec 1827 at St Bride Fleet Street, City of London. James is a widower, Mary Ann a spinster, witnesses Samuel Carver and Henry Burrell.
Is this James's first marriage?

23 Nov 1817 St James Westminster, James Parker and Mary Colwell, both OTP. Witnesses Samuel Carver and M Colwell.
I looked at this a while ago and thought it might be a coincidence, but I have just realised that Samuel Carver is a witness at both so I don't think so.
Possible Carver / Parker connection or maybe an actual coincidence - Erasmus Carver of Alverstoke, bachelor, married Sarah Parker of Fareham, Hants, spinster, 20 Mar 1754 at St George in the East, London.
There are some people who I think must be James Parker's children by his first wife, because they seem too old to be children by his second wife, but I haven't found baptisms for them (but there are a lot of non-conformists in this family): Joseph Parker born about 1818 Surrey, Margaret Susannah Parker born about 1818 Lambeth, and James Parker born about 1820 Southwark. (Or there could be a confusion between Jas and Jos and maybe Joseph and James are the same person!)
I think Mary Ann Colwell sr is the one who was born 26 Oct 1788 Westminster, daughter of Edward Farnell Colwell and Mary Feary, baptised 23 Nov 1788 at St James Westminster. I don't know when her mother died so she could be the M Colwell who is a witness at that 1817 wedding.
I was hoping that James Parker didn't marry his stepdaughter but I am starting to think that maybe he did? Can anyone find anything to prove it either way?
