A friend is looking for the high odd numbers of Wellfield Road, Wandsworth.

They only go up to no 95: https://www.findmypast.co.uk/search-address/households?_page=7&addressstreet=wellfield&keywordsplace=wandsworth%2c%20london%2c%20england&keywordsplace_proximity=5&datasetname=street%20results%20for%201939%20regist er&sid=580&streetId=TNA/R39/STREET/EA2D75D0C15EAADFF26C1DBBCFDD78AF

and Streetview suggests why: https://www.google.com/maps/place/95+Wellfield+Rd,+London+SW16+2BT/@51.42852,-0.1227114,17z/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x4876069da0e7de21:0xf1947ade cca994ba!2s95+Wellfield+Rd,+London+SW16+2BT!3b1!8m 2!3d51.4288369!4d-0.1241595!3m4!1s0x4876069da0e7de21:0xf1947adecca99 4ba!8m2!3d51.4288369!4d-0.1241595

I assume a late railway line took out a lot of small houses and the enumerator stopped at the bridge.

I've checked surrounding streets, but can't find the missing schedules, whichshould start up again at no 109.

Does anything list missing schedules? I assume they must have existed once, or irate individuals would have been demanding their ration books, surely?

It doesn't include late registrations, so it could just be that that bit was done later.

However, this looks like what you're looking for:

If you only have FMP, look for James A Thorn born 18 Jan 1886.

Thanks for looking, Kite. Sadly, that doesn't cover the bit I'm looking for, which is nos 109 - 133. It should lie within the AXF* enumeration districts.

I can only think that the residents didn't kick up a fuss early enough, so as you say, it is likely to be a late registration, and outside the scope of the 1939.

I've just looked at 109-133 from Kate's link. I just had to move forward two or three pages.

EDIT - OK more than that, Kate's link opened on image 4 and those numbers are on image 9.

FMP does have a page listing missing pieces but it doesn't say anything about Wellfield Road:

https://www.findmypast.co.uk/articles/world-records/full-list-of-united-kingdom-records/census-land-and-surveys/known-missing-places-from-1939-register

It does say it (the list of missing places) is a work in progress.

Strange, for me image 9 shows 172-192. Or were you looking at the schedule numbers?

It's very confusing, once you get half way down the page.... and I note that once redaction means the address isn't visible, so entries don't appear to be tagged on FMP.

But have you noticed the occupation of William Boakes? At no 174? It looks like something straight out of DL Sayers.

Probably. I can't get in at all now, as punishment!
