I found the official enquiry into the abandonment and sinking of the Champion of the Seas, about 20 years after my g-g-grandfather sailed her between Liverpool and Melbourne in the 1850s. And the enquiry into the burning of her sister ship Marco Polo in Liverpool docks.
I thought it was really interesting how the Government repatriated soldiers from India who didn't re-sign in the Indian regiments. Some ended up in the workhouse when they arrived and were sick due to the lack of adequate supplies on board ship.

I loved the Fat Lady in Trouble at Sea article - I could almost picture her trying to lace her stays!
